Testimonials from our students
2017 Intern Graduate, Viwe Ndevu
I joined the Academy as an intern in November 2016, I was coming from University with no IT experience. First time working in an IT industry! This was quite challenging for me as everything was new. I felt like the dream was coming true during the internship period, I learnt a lot both on premise network and cloud services, most of all was to write exams and get certifications. With everything that I learnt in that period I was ready for working environment.
As for the soft skill, I would suggest budgeting which I still struggle with it even today 🙂
2017 Intern Graduate, Estienne Le Sueur
I started as an IT Intern in November 2016, under the Autumn Leaf IT banner (Izakhono Academy’s IT Lab). When I started I had only a basic understanding of programming. By month 5 in the Academy, I got my first working project, helping the more experienced people, the senior developers. This was very exciting, I received a lot of help and bonded with everyone very quickly.
All and all, I couldn’t have asked for a better company to start my IT career in due to the broad range of technologies that I’ve mastered during this time.
2017 Intern Graduate, Abubakr Samsodien
From bookkeeper to IT Big Data Engineer. I had a chance to test my knowledge in the real world through an IT internship.
I have learned that I will never stop learning, collaboration is important and skills on its own. The environment that the academy sets only works if you are eager to learn.
After I had spent time hacking away at AWS, orchestration tools & python, I had built basic architectural understanding, and all that it did was open much more interests to new things that I was eager to know. How ridiculously simple things seemed at that time. Now I understand how complex building / maintaining software can be.
2017 Intern Graduate, Abulele Mgxabayi
When I started the internship I didn’t even know what is AWS, nor how to use AWS services. After a year I was able to work without supervision. I was given an opportunity to directly engage with clients who deal with high-level projects, which helped me to expand my skillset while working with something. I care about the future of learning. My internship confirmed my decision to pursue a career as Devops engineer (on the cloud).
